Even the moderate amounts of sodium and potassium consumed as part of a healthy diet help the heart function properly and ensure that the blood supply flows through the body as it should.

While various fad diets provide bits and pieces of the essential nutrients, the human body needs a full spectrum of nutrition. Complete nutrition can only be obtained through a balanced diet.

It is important to note that following a balanced diet for weight also involves making sure to avoid consumption of excessive quantities of fat or processed sugar. While such substances do not need to be completely eliminated from a balanced diet, they must be consumed in moderation. The concept of moderation in an important one when it comes to weight loss. Both balance and moderation are necessary to achieve weight loss goals.
