Losing weight can be a frustrating journey. Not only is it hard to lose the weight in the first place, it is even more difficult to keep it off. The secret to losing weight is to realize that there is no secret! There is no magic formula and there never will be.
What determines whether you lose weight and how much you can lose in a given period is pretty much all coded in your genes. This is where the saying that certain people are “big boned” comes from. While Pacific Islanders are general big, Asians tend to be petite. This is not a stereotype. It is a fact.
This does not mean that just because your body is genetically programmed to keep on more fat that most, you should give up. What it does certainly mean is that, the journey is harder, but not impossible.
Here are some natural ways to lose weight that will make this journey a little easier:
Fruit and Veggies
The hate for vegetable starts when we are but toddlers, and for most of us the hate never turns into love, or even like! But if you are trying to lose weight naturally, instead of popping dangerous diet pills, the fruit and vegetables should become your best friends.
Tip - Make shopping for fruits and vegetables a weekly adventure. Try out new ones that you have never tried before. If you find you really detest a particular vegetable, stop buying it. Experiment and find the ones that you do like. There are so many fruits out there which are sweet and packed with fragrant smells.
Above all, you need to realize that most fruits and vegetables do not contain any cholesterol or saturated fats whatsoever. But they are packed with vitamins minerals and fiber. So what could be a better snack?
If you are anything like me, just hearing that word makes you cringe. I hate exercising. I decided that enough was enough, and that I was not going to complain about it anymore. I decided to make exercising fun! Now I invite friends to go jogging with me. I go to aerobics classes at my local gym, and always leave feeling like I am on top of the world! Exercise does not have to be a solitary activity, involve friends and even your family. You could take the dog for a walk together. Jog together during the weekends or do an exercise tape at home. Or simply switch on the radio and dance!
Avoid Saturated Fats
Yes, we have heard this over and over again, but they are just so hard to avoid! While not wanting to encourage any calorie counting craze type behavior, it is advisable to actually read the food nutrition facts on any foods that you eat and try to avoid the ones with a large amount saturated or trans fats. Make changes in your kitchen, for example, using olive oil instead of ordinary cooking oil. This has less saturated and trans fats and no cholesterol at all.
As you can see, there are several natural ways to lose weight. The journey is harder for some than others, but every little change you make, makes a world of difference.
