Since no single food can provide all the nutrients that your body needs to stay healthy, we need to consume a
balanced diet made up of elements from all the five main food groups. Those groups are dairy products, fat and
sugar, fruit and vegetables, protein and whole grains. Health eating means consuming from all five main groups in
the proper quantities. A healthy balanced diet should consist of fruit, vegetables, whole grain breads and cereals,
potatoes, rice and pasta. There is no need to give up eating your favourite foods but rather you should introduce
more variety into your diet.
