Psoriasis Skin Care
Psoriasis is a chronic skin disorder in which scaly pink patches form on various areas of the body although it
most often occurs on the scalp, elbows, hands, knees and feet. It also tends to appear around areas of the body
that are prone to sweat such as the lower back and around the belly button.
Although not a contagious disease, psoriasis can have an extremely negative effect on the emotional
wellbeing of the sufferer with many folks turning to smoking and alcohol in an effort to cope. While large
areas of psoriasis can persist for months on end, the condition can also go into sudden remission for years at a
time.
Although it one of the most common skin complaints, the exact causes of psoriasis are not fully understood, It
is however believed to be an inherited condition. Being a life long condition with no known cure, psoriasis skin
care involves various topical treatments such as photo or light therapy or corticosteroids.
