Natural Skin Care Tips for Men
Natural skin care for men has become and enormous business. The demand for skin care products
specifically designed for men's skin is on the rise. Skin care is no longer only a concern shared by women; men
from all age groups now care about their skin.
Men’s skin needs to be cared for very differently to women’s, as it contains much more elastin and collagen,
which make their skin thicker. Men’s skin is usually oilier than women’s as their sweat glands operate more.
Skin Care is for Real Men, Not Wimps
Women have to worry about the sun, diet and weather, but men also have to worry about the razor blades they use
on their faces. To compensate, men need to use shaving gel that contains lots of minerals to help protect their
skin from burns and rashes, as well as keep the skin from drying out.
The sun can also cause skin problems; sunburn and early aging are not good, and so is the general weathered
look. Surfers protect their skin by applying heavy sun block on their face and body, and so it should be when doing
other outdoor activities like fishing, golfing or working.
Looking After Manly Skin
Get the day off to a good start by cleaning the pores in the skin to eradicate dirt and sweat. The same thing
should be done at the end of the day. Exfoliate regularly to allow new skin to grow through; this will also open
hair follicles more, which will result in a closer shave.
Rinsing the face with warm water before shaving will make the foam lather more and soften the skin. Massaging
the shaving cream into the skin stimulates tiny capillaries in the middle skin layer. Never shave with a blunt
blade and to get the closest shave possible, go in the same direction as the hairs grow. Shaving the opposite way
or even both ways can result in red, irritated skin.
Moisturizing is important particularly after shaving, as it can leave the skin dry. A moisturizer that
conditions the skin, as well as moisturizes, and contains vitamins and plant extracts, is ideal. Using alcohol-free
aftershave is best because it won't be harsh on the skin nor dry it out. Aside from the face, men should also
protect the soft skin on the feet, elbows, arms and hands.
They say that good skin comes from the inside, so eat well, exercise well, don’t smoke and try not to drink too
much. These will all help keep the skin looking its best. But the big companies let us forget these simple things,
as they don’t cost anything.
