Whether you have just found out that you are expecting or are trying to conceive, you will most likely have pregnancy concerns that you should address with your doctor. However, there are a few things you can do yourself to make sure that your pregnancy is a healthy and happy one, and that your baby's chances of suffering from vitamin deficiencies or newborn colic are reduced.
Though it is often described as colic pain, biliary colic symptoms is generally characterized by a steady ache in the upper right abdomen, beneath the rib cage. Sometimes these signs of colic and the resulting pain may migrate toward the right shoulder blade or come with nausea and vomiting. The pain colic can induce comes from a blockage in the gallbladder, which is caused by gallstones in approximately 80% of all patients with this malady.
It may seem strange that babies are born without fully functional digestive systems, but many doctors believe this to be true! Colic in babies may occur for several reasons. The baby is unable to digest complex milk sugar due to a lack of gut flora (healthy microorganisms in the stomach) or the lack of Melatonin needed to transport toxins and ease digestion. But then again, sometimes it is just pent up gas from an immature system. Don't worry! Your baby will be digesting food, getting rid of waste and adapting to his or her new environment in no time at all. It takes roughly four months for this phase to pass. In the meantime, there are some options to ease colic pain.
As a new parent, nothing is worse than hearing the sound of your infant crying and unable to communicate exactly what's wrong. Sometimes babies cry for no real reason at all and it may be best to let them cry it out. A baby who is always coddled may realize that crying get results. However, newborn colic could be the culprit with a dry-diapered, well-fed baby who cries more than three hours per day, for more than three days each week, and for more than three weeks at a time.
